For walking and hiking, there are enchanting woodlands, rolling green valleys and riverside trails. Pack a picnic and follow where the road takes you. There are many picturesque lakes scattered throughout the country, but perhaps none more striking than Lake Bled. Located in the Julian Alps, this stunning body of water is well worth a visit, if only to take some photographs.
Slovenia is famed for its caves, featuring jaw-dropping caverns that tunnel deep underground and featuring thousands of stalactites and stalagmites. The cave systems at Postojna, Skocjan and Predjama are highly recommended.
On the coast, you can enjoy the beautiful blue waters and golden sandy beaches of the Adriatic Sea. Sun bathe under the hot sun, build sandcastles and hunt for fish while snorkelling in the crystal clear water. The coastal resorts are well built up, so you will find restaurants, cafes and water sports providers.
The capital Ljubljana is a thriving city that offers great shopping experiences and nice restaurants along with many cultural attractions. If you have time, make sure to visit Ljubljana Castle, the Dragon Bridge, Tivoli Park, the Central Market and Prešeren Square.
