Things to do when camping in Sardinia
With impossibly white sands that sparkle and shimmering azure blue waters, the beaches of Sardinia are sufficiently beautiful to rival the very best in the world. Whether you love water sports, building sandcastles or worshipping the sun, you’ll be well placed to do so on a camping holiday in Sardinia.
Golden sands and smooth pebbles decorate the 60m stretch of beach at Cala Goloritzé, along with rugged limestone rocks and inviting aquamarine water. This peaceful coastal paradise is ideal for snorkelling and paddling, while the surrounding landscapes offer great hiking trails.
Arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Italy, La Pelosa beach is defined by soft sand and shallow waters that stretch far out to sea. This wonderful example can be found close to the town of Stintino. By hopping on a boat from Stintino, you can venture out to the island beach of Le Saline where it is possible to see pink flamingos in the salt ponds.
There are many other wonderful boat excursions to consider taking around the islands. From the charming town of Alghero, you can visit the fascinating Grotta di Nettuno caves that feature wondrous stalactites and stalagmites.
Remember to pack a snorkelling set if you strive out towards the Maddalena Archipelago, a Unesco World Heritage site that comprises 7 major islands and impossibly clear waters primed for viewing marine life. You can also visit some gorgeous beaches and coves on your trip, with a stop by the famous pink beach of Spargi Island highly recommended.
If you’re holidaying with the kids, you’ll be relieved to know that there is plenty of child-friendly attractions on the island. Make a splash at the Aquadream and BluFab water parks, where sublime slides and water attractions await. For an educational and exciting day out, head to the Cala Gonone Aquarium.
