Camping Marmolada Malga Ciapela

After a brisk mountain hike, it's great to cool your feet in the stream that flows past the campsite. For more swimming fun you can go to Canazei, at 20 km (31 minutes by car) from the campsite. Here you will find a swimming pool with a slide of 111 meters!

Camping Marmolada is completely equipped for campers who want to be sporty in summer or winter. So as hiking, mountain biking, skiën, via ferrata, A tip for a nice walk from the campsite: here begins the road that leads in about half an hour to the farm Malga Gran Pian. From here follow the signs to Malga Ombretta and when you reach the intersection that leads on the left to Val Franzedàz, turn right to Valle Ombretta. Keep following the signs to Malga Ombretta and Rifugio Falier and via a well-marked path and mule track you will reach Malga Ombretta (1904 m) in about an hour. Malga Ombretta is a beautiful hut with a small dairy selling local products. Homemade yogurt with berries and fresh whipped cream is very popular. Val Ombretta is the geographical center of the Dolomites: not far from the hut you can reach a wooden totem with a stone heart inside, symbolizing the 'Heart of the Dolomites'. For those who want to venture on an excursion a little more challenging than the one that ends in Malga Ombretta, it is possible to continue to Rifugio Falier, by following CAI path 610, which leads to this rifugio in about an hour's walk. Along the path, once a mule track from the Great War, the impressive mass of the south face of the Marmolada towers above you, one of the most prized faces by mountaineers worldwide.
