Camping Holidays In Zeeland

Even though Holland doesn’t immediately spring to mind when we think of beach holidays in Europe, camping in Zeeland will quickly change your mind. You’ll be treated to wonderful coastal resorts boasting fine beaches and soul-soothing rural landscapes that are primed for fun outdoor pursuits.

Things to do when camping in Zeeland

To fully appreciate your camping holiday in Zeeland, it’s best to get out and explore the gorgeous coastal and countryside landscapes that give this region its distinct characteristics. Lovely sandy beaches and inviting waters are the mark of the peninsulas and islands that comprise the province.

At the seaside town of Domburg, adults and children will be treated to a family-friendly beach that features fine sands and a wide strand. A little further along the shores of the peninsula lies the stunning Blue Flag beaches of Oostkapelle that are a favourite among tourists and locals who prefer a very clean beach. The beautiful beach at Renesse is perched next to the charming forest of Westerschouwen and features golden grainy sands.

If you’ve never tried any water sports before, a visit to Zeeland affords you the opportunity to dip your proverbial toe in the water and indulge in some sailing, wakeboarding, paddle boarding, skiing, kite surfing, windsurfing and sea kayaking, to name just a few.

For gentle ambles and long hikes through flora and fauna, time should be set aside to explore one of the region’s many national parks and nature reserves. Zeepeduinen, a protected area of outstanding beauty offers marked trails for scenic saunters and the Manteling Nature Reserve gives walkers the chance to look out for our fine feathered friends.

Do as the Dutch do and pedal your way around the region on a bicycle. The countryside roads and coastal trails are invitingly flat, allowing you to cruise along whilst taking in the endearing landscapes.

The historic city of Middelburg ranks among the best urban areas to visit in the region, whilst also acting as the capital of Zeeland. Notable points of interest include Mini Mundi Theme Park, the Zeeuws Museums, Ter Hooge Castle and Long John Abbey.

There are plenty of attractions in the area to keep young campers happy, notably Aqua Mundo Port Zélande water park, the tropical zoo at Berkenhof and Delta Park Neeltje Jans theme park.

You’ll be kept very busy on a camping holiday in Zeeland with the whole family. Mix relaxing days spent in the midst of nature with exciting and sunny trips to the beach when you visit this lovely region of the Netherlands.
