Camping Holidays In Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur

This diverse region caters for all holiday types, whether you fancy relaxing by the stunning blues waters of the French Riviera or discovering captivating landscapes and enchanting Provencal villages. Enjoy idyllic outdoor holiday heaven when you go camping in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur

Things to do when camping in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur

The French Riviera enjoys its fair share of glorious Mediterranean sunshine, with the warming rays intensifying the lovely sands and sparkling azure waters of its bays. The coast is lined with charming towns and villages that feature impossibly beautiful beaches, while the glitzy resorts of Cannes, Nice and St. Tropez offer classy coastal locations.

Tucked away in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat lies the stunning Paloma Beach, a calm bay featuring clear water and fine pebble shores. In the Var department, the famed town of St Tropez is home to a flashy beach club called Plage Pampelonnea that boasts nice restaurants. For dramatic views, head to the sands of Eden Plage Mala at the Cap d’Ail which is overlooked by striking cliffs painted in lush green vegetation.

The lively towns and cities that are perched on the Côte d’Azur offer plenty for the budding sightseer to see and do. The sweeping Promenade des Anglais is the quintessential image of Nice, while the city also features the Matisse Museum and Cours Saleya. We recommend spending a day by the beach before exploring the shops, cafes and restaurants of the quaint old town.

If you’d like to see how the rich and famous spend their time on the Côte d’Azur, head to Monaco. This principality is home to the renowned Monte Carlo Casino, Lavrotto Beach and the Prince’s Palace of Monaco. A slower pace of life can be enjoyed in the stunning hilltop village of Eze and its lush botanical, winding streets and gorgeous vantage points.

When the lure of nature calls, there’s no better place to be than wonderful Provence. The engaging countryside is awash with amazing landscapes; rolling vineyards, enchanting woodlands, rushing rivers and sprawling green fields. The jaw-dropping Gorges du Verdon deserves a special mention.

This breath-taking canyon comprises of dramatic hiking trails that follow the meandering rivers before opening out into wonderful bodies of water like the stunning Lake Sainte Croix. Take it the stunning vistas from Point Sublime and wander along the captivating L’Imbut trail.

In Luberon, you’ll be spoiled by charming villages and fields of lavender that sway elegantly in the soft breeze. Explore the area by foot or by bike, and be sure to visit the Provencal Colorado, a unique landscape more akin to the wild west of America than France.

Perhaps the most essential aspect of a trip to the region is visiting at least one Provençal village that draws you back into time or onto the pages of a famous fairy tale. The towns of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Bonnieux and Lourmarin are ideal for experiencing the culture, cuisine and history of the region.

The famed wild white horses and pink flamingos of Camargue are the feature of this vast wetland, where beautiful flora and fauna can be appreciated by exploring the delta by foot, boat or bike. The alluring communes of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and Arles are close by, as is the city of Avignon.

If you have the kids with you on your next camping holiday in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, they’ll be delighted to find out there’s plenty for them to do as well. Make time to visit the Le Bois des Lutins Adventure Park, Monaco Océanographique Museum, Le Village des Fous Theme Park, Aquasplash Water Park and La Barben Zoo.
